JOB DESCRIPTION
Location: Hybrid | Downtown, Toronto
Duration: 12 months
Our client a leading financial institution in Downtown Toronto, is looking for an Interaction Designer to participate in and contribute to the day-to-day activities of the team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with one of the Top 5 Banks in Canada.
Typical Day in role:
- Collaborate with client team mates on Mobile Banking to determine whether components are needed
- If components are needed, collaborate and co-create the requirements, design and construct the component, create the documentation, test the component and documentation for usability with client team mates
- Create workshops and user feedback sessions to collaborate with client team mates and RIG team mates
- Collaborate with the RIG content designer to publish release notes once a month
- Support team mates with design reviews and critiques
- Stay up to date on design systems best practices and tooling
- Stay up to date on design best practices
- Build relationships with team mates on both the design and development sides within RIG and within client teams
- Manage your own project scope and timelines
Must-Have Skills:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in designing usable interfaces across multiple channels and platforms
- Experience in an applied research setting including experience integrating user research into product designs and design practices
- Demonstrated ability to articulate design strategy, rational and logic; describing benefits and highlighting risks associated with design decisions
- Demonstrated expertise with design, prototyping, and research tools such as Figma, Mural, UserTesting.com
- Knowledge of Slack and Outlook.
Nice-To-Have Skills:
- Strong understanding of strengths and shortcomings of different research methods, including when and how to apply them during each product phase
- Appreciation for the potential of ‘design thinking’
- Experience working within a large organization and within an agile environment

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in either Arts, Social Sciences, or STEM or community college diploma in design
- BA/BS degree in Design (e.g. interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science (CS), or a related field or equivalent practical experience
- MA/MS degree or certification in Design (e.g. interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science (CS), or a related field
