JOB DESCRIPTION

Location: Hybrid | Toronto

Duration: 9 Months 

Our client, a leading financial institution in Downtown Toronto, is looking for a Data Migration Specialist to meet with business stakeholders to define validation rules and document requirements. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with one of the Top 5 Banks in Canada.

Typical Day in role:

The position focuses on ensuring data integrity through the development of data validation rules, developing and executing SQL-based data validation scripts, and ensuring data integrity throughout the data migration process. Including:

  • Balancing technical work with collaboration.
  • Developing and executing SQL scripts to validate legacy data, identify quality issues, and generate reports.
  • Writing technical documentation explaining processes and workflows.
  • Coordinating with cross-functional teams to keep the data migration on track.
  • Ensuring data integrity while translating between technical and business teams.

Must Have Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in SQL (e.g. DDL Design/DML Query/Stored Procedure) and Python (e.g. pandas, dataframe) scripting and relational database management.
  • Proven ability to identify data inconsistencies, gaps, and compatibility issues.
  • Ability to create and manage clear technical documentation.
  • Experience collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders to define requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills to diagnose and resolve data migration challenges.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy in testing and documentation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build strong working relationships

Nice-To-Have Skills:

  • Prior exposure to Archer GRC or similar governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) platforms.
  • Knowledge of operational risk frameworks or issue management systems.

Soft Skills Required:

  • Strong critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • Strong communication skills, both in written and verbal forms

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
