JOB DESCRIPTION
Location: Hybrid (Downtown, Toronto)
Duration: 5 months
Our client a leading financial institution in Downtown Toronto is looking for a Cloud Engineer- Terraform, Dynatrace Grail to design and implement Dynatrace Grail based observability solution for OSS. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with one of the Top 5 Banks in Canada.
Typical Day in role:
- Design enterprise observability architecture using Dynatrace
- Instrument system code using Dynatrace OneAgent and OpenTelemetry
- Implement observability for Kubernetes clusters, services, and workloads such as GKE in Azure and GCP
- Define standards for logs, metrics, traces, alerting, and SLOs
- Automate observability onboarding using Terraform Cloud and CI/CD pipelines
- Mentor engineers on observability best practices using Dyntrace Grail
Must-Have Skills:
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering using Terraform for Infrastructure as Code to manage deployments in GCP and/or Azure
- 5+ years of strong understanding of observability fundamentals (logs, metrics, traces, topology, SLOs)
- 5+ years of experience operating distributed systems across Azure and GCP
- 3+ years hands-on experience to enable observability using Dynatrace Grail for large scale enterprise system
- 3+ years of experience instrumenting services using OpenTelemetry
Nice-To-Have Skills:
- Experience in regulated or financial services environments
- Prior technical leadership or mentorship experience
- 5+ years of strong Kubernetes observability experience (preferably GKE)
- 5+ years of strong Linux, Terraform (HCL)
Soft Skills Required:
- Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to explain complex distributed systems in operational terms
- High attention to detail and reliability standards
- Comfortable supporting incident response and on-call operations
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Cloud or observability certifications
