JOB DESCRIPTION

Location: Hybrid | Downtown, Toronto

Duration: 6.5 Months 

Our client, a leading financial institution in Downtown Toronto, is looking for a Business Analyst – SQL, Banking, Credit Risk, to facilitate discussions with stakeholders to validate data quality and completeness for ingestion. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with one of the Top 5 Banks in Canada.

Typical Day in role:

  • Define, assess, and document comprehensive Business Requirements for new sources and enhancements to existing systems, collaborating closely with development and technical teams.
  • Analyze existing systems and reporting capabilities to identify functional gaps and improvement opportunities.
  • Review and contribute to functional and technical documentation (e.g., FSDs, EDDs), providing clarification and ensuring alignment with business needs.
  • Support solution delivery by participating in user acceptance testing (UAT), validating system functionality, and assisting with implementation activities.
  • Liaise between business stakeholders and technology teams to ensure successful execution of business requirements.

Must Have Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience in business/data analysis within financial services, credit risk, or related domains
  • 3-5 years’ intermediate/advanced experience with SQL – writing complex queries
  • 3–5 years intermediate/advanced Excel skills (large datasets, formulas, VLOOKUPs, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience in documenting business and functional requirements (BRDs, FSDs, STMs), testing, and developing process maps and workflow analyses.
  • Experience working with multiple delivery groups, including IT&S, in a collaborative project-based environment.

Nice-To-Have Skills:

  • Experience in credit risk within banking, ideally within the bank—familiarity with internal systems and processes will enable faster ramp-up.
  • Solid understanding of banking risk frameworks, regulatory expectations, and credit processes (experience in Banking and/or Credit preferred).

Soft Skills Required:

  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Education:

  • Educational background in Commerce, Business, Economics, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
