Unified Communications Cloud Engineer – Avaya

JOB DESCRIPTION

Location: Hybrid | Downtown, Toronto

Duration: 12 months

Our client a leading financial institution in Downtown Toronto is looking for a Unified Communications Cloud Engineer – Avaya to review and interpret existing Avaya PBX configurations, including user profiles, call flows, and system integrations. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with one of the Top 5 Banks in Canada.

Typical Day in role:

  • Discovery & Planning
  1. Review and interpret existing Avaya PBX configurations, including user profiles, call flows, and system integrations.
  2. Develop a comprehensive migration plan segmented by business lines and locations.
  • Design & Documentation
  1. Create Low-Level Design (LLD) documentation aligned with the High-Level Design (HLD) and business requirements.
  2. Call Routing and Dial Plan Design.
  3. Create Security design documents, firewall rules, and role-based access control.
  4. Create the support document for day 2 support.
  • Implementation & Support
  1. Conduct the pre-migration testing.
  2. Create the MoP and change management.
  3. Validate the user data from Avaya.
  4. Execute the user migration through bulk update or related migration tools/scripts. validate successful cutovers (after business hours).
  5. Use Oracle SBC tools (e.g., Oracle EOM) for root cause analysis and troubleshooting in the Webex production environment.
  6. Collaborate with internal teams to resolve issues.
  7. Work with vendors and supporters, i.e. Cisco, Oracle, Avaya, Telco.
  • Integration
  1. Ensure successful integration with on-prem systems such as Verint Recording system, Workforce Management (WFM), CDR system, Reporting.
  2. Implementation of E911.
  3. Single Sign-On (SSO).

Must-Have Skills:

  • 10+ years of telecoms / telephony experience
  • 3+ years’ experience with Cisco Webex Cloud, Cisco Webex Control Hub and user migration projects
  • 5+ years’ experience with enterprise-scale Avaya CM PBX deployments
  • 3+ years’ experience SIP trunking and call routing
  • 5+ years’ experience integrating UC platforms with systems like Verint, Custodia, WFM, E911, and SSO

Nice-To-Have Skills:

  • Proficiency with Oracle SBC and troubleshooting tools such as Oracle EOM.
  • Work experience with IP Network systems and technologies, including, but not limited to Cisco Routers, Switches, Firewalls, IP subnetting.
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification

Soft Skills Required:

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks under a tight timeline.
  • Superior problem solving and decision-making skills to resolve work issues with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication (verbal/written) and great interpersonal skills to interact with relationships with internal and external business partners and vendors. Able to present to executive level.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, or a related technical field
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification an asset
