Opportunity – Underwriting Team Lead/Senior Business Relationship Manager
Working closely with the company's Origination Team, the Underwriting Team Lead/Senior Business Relationship Manager will provide mentorship in establishing and growing broker relationship management and new business development, provide training in finding solutions to deals, identify training needs of the team and create and update/maintain training materials. This role requires a dedicated and driven individual who will be at home in a fast-growing medium-size business with an experienced Business Relationship Management team. About the Role
Reporting to the Director, Underwriting, the Underwriting Team Lead/Senior Business Relationship Manager will generate and maintain strong relationships with brokers, business development officers, lenders, referral partners and other relevant firms help to grow the company's industry profile and share of the non-bank financial services market. With a focus on managing teams and nurturing relationships to increase overall revenue and opportunity volume, you will successfully generate private loan opportunities from brokerages.

Responsibilities

Managerial Leadership

  • Support the strategic vision and goals of the residential lending underwriting department

  • Effectively manage talent, including careful assessments and evaluations of team members, hold effective career conversations, determine optimal training, and recruit and develop a talented and diverse team
  • Optimize teamwork by articulating how team members work collaboratively to fulfill program, department and corporate objectives while consistently being available for team building and development
  • Identify track, and coach toward Key Performance Indicators
  • Continuously identify and execute best practice process improvements, eliminate redundancies, and identify system and/or reporting needs
Business Operations
  • Work in collaboration with the team to closely manage pipelines, collect outstanding commitments on a timely basis
  • Responsible for consistent adherence to predetermined Service Level Agreements
  • Conduct analysis on declined and cancelled deals to identify trends and recommend solutions to minimize lost opportunities
  • Successfully contribute to the Residential Lending results, ensuring that growth and profitability targets are being met
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of the competition, industry trends and market conditions
  • Provide effective complaint resolutions and reporting as per complaint handling process
  • Ensures, through effective oversight, the proper implementation of policies, procedures and controls pertaining to Residential Mortgage Lending
  • Through coaching and oversight, promotes a strong risk culture by ensuring that the effective implementation of regulatory policies and procedures are embedded in the performance assessment of all staff
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Experience

  • 10+ years of Team Leader/Manager mortgage underwriting experience 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the mortgage industry
  • Demonstrated ability to use data to driven activities aiding in the performance-driven sales area
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to use Salesforce is strongly preferred
