FTE Permanent Position
Our client, a leading financial institution in Downtown Toronto is looking for a permanent full time Software Developer Full Stack in Downtown, Toronto. The ideal candidate will be a part of Global PLANET (PNL Analysis and Exploration tool) team who is the core component of strategic digital transformation of Product Control function of the bank. This team uses latest Java, Spring, Angular and Big Data (Spark/ Kafka/Hive) technologies to bring value to Bank’s Finance Leadership while continuously innovating and exploring newer technologies like Cassandra/ Trino. Having won number of team and individual awards, this team is extremely collaborative and has a track record of continued success. The selected candidate will get the exposure to all these technologies while also helping them learn a core Finance domain – Product Control.
Responsibilities:
- Produce high quality code which is functional and maintainable
- Interact with business sponsors to help gather requirements
- Participate in the development process for gathering requirements, implementing, and releasing applications
- Assist the first line support team in resolving production issues when called upon
- Monitor and control activities according to plan
- Continuously identify potential issues, conflicts, and risks. Analyze, mitigate, and escalate where appropriate
- Establish strong working relationships across business units and platforms to build influence and impact with key business partners
- Collaborate with groups to define and achieve deliverables and ensure initiatives are effectively integrated into Bank’s procedures and processes
- Contribute to ongoing administrative program activities
Must have:
- 2 to 4 years of application development experience on an Enterprise team
- Strong Java/Spring and JavaScript (Angular 14+) development skills for Linux Environment
- Strong problem-solving and data analysis skills including SQL
- Exposure to large-scale enterprise software development using DevOps tools like Git, Jenkins, and Docker
- Bachelor’s degree preferably in Computer Science/ Engineering or related experience
Nice-to-have:
- Experience in a matrix environment, such as a large, publicly traded corporation
- Some experience with application development in the Financial Services industry
- Experience with Apache Spark along with Scala and some exposure to Kafka
