JOB DESCRIPTION

Location: Hybrid (Downtown, Toronto)
Duration: 1 year

Our client a leading financial institution in Downtown Toronto is looking for a Lead AML/ KYC Analyst to investigate and assess relationships for potential financial, reputational, operational and compliance risk in addition to activities that pose money laundering or terrorist financing risks for GBM clients. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with one of the Top 5 Banks in Canada.

Typical Day in role:

  • Support the Associate Director, in ensuring that the Bank is compliant with regulatory obligations and bank-driven risk measures.
  • Manage a team facilitating the onboarding of GBM Canada clients in an efficient, compliant, and client-centric manner, rapidly triaging and escalating complex issues to management for resolution.
  • Provide clear, constructive and regular feedback to analysts, with a focus on personal and professional development.
  • Facilitate training and/or improvements to guidance, procedures, processes, technology etc.
  • Prioritize requests for information, establishing response times and escalating requests as required
  • Prepare and escalate High-Risk, PEP and sanctions-related relationships with supporting documents to internal stakeholders for review.
  • Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Act as an AML subject matter expert to the business and internal stakeholders
  • Perform ad-hoc, special, and/or focused data analytics as necessary, as well as other duties and projects as assigned, to support various GBMO projects.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Promote Diversity and Inclusion groups within the bank and sharing opportunities to participate.

Must-Have Skills:

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in financial services and/ or KYC/AML/ATF
  • Leadership skills: proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a diverse team.
  • Analytical skills: strong problem-solving abilities and data analysis expertise.
  • Significant preference will be placed on applicants with cash management and/or retail business experience or Capital Markets Regulation experience (IIROC) and/or Dealer Member experience
  • Proficient with MS Office with experience in data analytics
  • A sound understanding of global banking and capital markets business is desired, as is a client-centric approach to the role. The individual should have broad knowledge of the end-to-end workflows among the Front, Middle, and Back Offices.

Nice-To-Have Skills:

  • Prior banking experience
  • Prior experience as a team lead

Education:

  • Post Secondary Education
