Our client a leading financial institution in Downtown Toronto is looking for a Bilingual Product Owner – Spanish, Data Projects to define and communicate a compelling product vision aligned with business goals and customer needs. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with one of the Top 5 Banks in Canada.
Typical Day in role:
Product Strategy & Vision
- Collaborate with stakeholders, SMEs, and end users to shape the roadmap and prioritize features based on value, risk, and impact.
- Maintain and evolve the product backlog to reflect changing priorities and insights.
Backlog Management & Delivery
- Own the release and iteration backlog, ensuring alignment with the product vision.
- Lead the creation of user stories, acceptance criteria, and supporting documentation.
- Break down epics into clear, testable features and user stories.
Agile Team Collaboration
- Actively participate in agile ceremonies including planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and demos.
- Review and approve completed work based on defined acceptance criteria.
- Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and the agile team, shielding the team from distractions.
Customer-Centric Execution
- Champion high-quality delivery and exceptional user experience.
- Use data, research, and feedback to validate features and inform decisions.
- Ensure all backlog items are traceable to the product vision and business value.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner with Agile Coaches and other Product Owners to share best practices and accelerate agile maturity.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, including executives.
- Contribute to organizational learning by mentoring peers and promoting agile principles.
Must-Have Skills:
- 5–7 years of progressive experience in product development or management.
- Proven success in agile environments and familiarity with the full product lifecycle.
- Experience in financial services or data-driven projects is highly desirable.
- Fluency in Spanish and English is required to support regional collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
Nice-To-Have Skills:
- Experience with (e.g., Jira, Confluence)
- Brings a diverse background with experience in small, commercial, and large corporations.
Soft Skills Required:
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- A master’s degree or MBA is considered an asset.
