Agile Project Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION

Location: Hybrid | Downtown, Toronto

Duration: 12 months

Our client a leading financial institution in Downtown Toronto is looking for a Agile Project Manager to lead the delivery of multiple data and analytics initiatives across several cross-functional teams in a dynamic investment management environment. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with one of the Top 5 Banks in Canada.

Typical Day in role:

Project Name/description:

Data Platform team | Self-Serve Analytics team | Advanced Analytics (AI, ML) team | Financial Analytics team

  • Ensure projects meet business objectives and stakeholder expectations through effective planning, prioritization, and delivery execution.
  • Establish and maintain effective project routines, facilitate, and plan ceremonies aligned with bank’s EIMF (Enterprise Initiative Management Framework), and ensure clear, concise, and timely communication and reporting across initiatives’ deliverables on Confluence, Jira, Asana, and Planview to leadership and stakeholders. Monitor team progress through JIRA, creating transparency on team performance.
  • Support Data Product Managers in backlog refinement, intake process, helping them prioritize work.
  • Help the program lead manage the discovery backlog and triage new intake requests. Ensure discovery work has clear outcomes, ownership, and timelines and transitions cleanly into development.
  • Facilitate key agile ceremonies, e.g. product demos, sprint planning, retrospectives, scrum of scrums to ensure alignment across the teams.
  • Champion continuous improvement by identifying and addressing bottlenecks.

Must-Have Skills:

  • Proven track record of minimum 5+ years of successful project delivery as Project Manager, Program Manager or Agile Project Manager, with strong background in supporting multiple teams and initiatives simultaneously. Proven strength in building relationships, navigating matrixed environments, and influencing across diverse teams.
  • Proficiency in tools as Jira, Confluence, and SharePoint.
  • Excellent prioritization and decision-making abilities, with a strong focus on delivering business value.
  • Proven ability to embrace diverse responsibilities, proactively step in where needed, and contribute beyond defined roles, while maintaining a strong focus on supporting team members.

Nice-To-Have Skills:

  • Familiarity with data engineering and data science concepts or curiosity and willingness to learn about this area, to support collaboration with technical teams.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Designation and additional Project Management Certifications (CSM, SAFe, PMI-ACP)
  • Understanding and interest in Organizational Change Management.
  • Background in investment management, asset management, or broader financial services or some time dedication, when joining the team, to learn about investment life cycle – strong asset.
  • Knowledge of working with MS Project, Planview, and Asana for initiatives tracking and planning.
