Business Analyst – Capital Markets

JOB DESCRIPTION

Location: Hybrid | Downtown, Toronto

Duration: ASAP to 10/30/2026

Our client a leading financial institution in Downtown Toronto, is looking for a Business Analyst – Capital Markets to Champion a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment. Typical Day in role:

  • Help drive the change transformation process by providing subject matter expertise in corporate actions industry standard/best practice, challenging status quo, and recommending alternative solutions, to ensure alignment to business priorities, and technology/architecture strategy
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased automation to enhance operational efficiency
  • Support end-to-end delivery planning of the Program, including interpretation of business needs, business case development, development of project and implementation plans, and solution transition to business-as-usual (BAU)
  • Conduct analysis and research, producing relevant project artifacts and reports
  • Identification, mitigation and escalation of risks and process/control gaps
  • Work with Program team to ensure functional analysis and builds align to plan and meet business requirements
  • Support definition, design, and documentation of future state/target operating model
  • Support user training, as necessary, to ensure proficient use of new systems and processes
  • Support various Program workstreams, as needed, producing deliverables, as required, including requirements elicitation and documentation, test strategy documentation, test case/script preparation and execution, participating in production deployment planning and execution
  • Work independently and exercises excellent judgement based on precedents or best practices.
  • Adhere to the Bank’s Enterprise Delivery Framework Standards.
  • Manage program-related meetings/forums (as required) and communicate with stakeholders from the business, operations, technology, and other relevant functions, across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture drive day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Represent bank effectively when involved with external parties, including suppliers, and industry peers.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with bank’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.

Must-Have Skills:

  • 10+ years of work experience in capital/global markets, or related consulting experience
  • 8+ years’ experience in Asset Servicing, including knowledge of automated processing of complex Mandatory, Voluntary, Dividend, and Interest offers and events, through the various phases of the corporate actions lifecycle
  • Proven track record managing large-scale projects in a financial institution or consulting firm
  • Knowledge of corporate actions processing engine, TCS BaNCS, and entitlement activity processing systems, related to various Broadridge products including ADP, Gloss, IMPACT, DTC, and/or depository exposure to CDS, Clearstream, BNP, Citi, HSBC, with a strong understanding of straight-through processing, would be an asset
  • 3+ years of experience using project management/collaboration tools, techniques and methodologies including Microsoft Project, JIRA, Confluence, Clarity PPM
  • Intermediate to advanced user capability in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint

Nice-To-Have Skills:

  • Project Management or Business Analysis designation (e.g., PMP, CBAP)

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with ability to influence and engage stakeholders at various levels.
  • Experience managing multiple senior stakeholders, coordinating cross-functional project teams, running meetings, and preparing and delivering presentations and demonstrated ability to collaboratively work in a team environment under tight deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt quickly to changes in requirements
  • Proactive problem solver

Education:

  • An advanced degree or relevant equivalent experience
  • Project Management or Business Analysis designation (e.g., PMP, CBAP)
