JOB DESCRIPTION

Location: Hybrid | Downtown, Toronto

Duration: 7 Months 

Our client, a leading financial institution in Downtown Toronto, is looking for an IT Project Manager – HR Technology to Work in a fast-paced environment, balancing competing priorities while driving project milestones and delivery objectives. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with one of the Top 5 Banks in Canada.

Typical Day in role:

  • Develop, maintain, and manage project plans, timelines, scope, deliverables, dependencies, and project governance artifacts.
  • Coordinate project activities across business stakeholders, technology teams, vendors, developers, and project management resources to ensure successful delivery.
  • Facilitate project status meetings and maintain RAID logs (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, and Dependencies), ensuring timely follow-up and resolution of action items.
  • Partner closely with business stakeholders, functional teams, and subject matter experts to gather, validate, and refine business requirements.
  • Lead and coordinate the delivery of technology solutions, working with developers and third-party vendors to ensure business objectives are met.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks and issues, and proactively implement mitigation strategies to maintain project timelines and quality standards.
  • Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities, including test planning, execution support, issue tracking, defect resolution, and stakeholder sign-off.
  • Develop implementation, rollout, communication, and transition plans to support successful deployment and adoption.
  • Prepare project status reports, executive updates, steering committee presentations, and decision-support documentation, including cost-benefit analyses where required.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to project coordinators and support resources while ensuring effective execution of project administration activities.
  • Ensure project delivery follows established project management methodologies, governance standards, and systems development lifecycle (SDLC) practices.
  • Manage project communications across all stakeholder groups, including senior leadership, business sponsors, and executive audiences.
  • Support multiple project workstreams throughout various phases of delivery, including requirements gathering, data mapping, development, testing, and implementation.

Must Have Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience as an IT Project Manager managing end-to-end technology projects with strong knowledge of project management methodologies, governance frameworks, and project delivery best practices
  • Experience with PM tools: JIRA, Microsoft Project
  • Experience delivering technology and business application solutions in a large-scale, multi-platform systems environment.

Nice-To-Have Skills:

  • Experience managing ServiceNow implementation projects
  • Experience from FIs – specifically HR technology and HR transformation project experience
  • Bilingual in Spanish is an asset
  • Experience delivering UI-focused and client-facing technology solutions
  • Experience managing third-party vendors and external delivery partners

Soft Skills Required:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Very thorough, attention to detail, organized
  • Stay on top of things, works independently with minimal hand holding
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, able to communicate with Exec/C-Suite level
  • Able to work in a fast paced work environment and manage competing priorities

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • PMP/PMI certification an asset
