JOB DESCRIPTION

Location: Hybrid  (Downtown, Toronto)

Duration: 12 months

Our client, a leading financial institution in Downtown Toronto, is looking for a Senior Data Analyst to support Agile Development as well as contribute to the design, development, and enhancement of data product solutions for various GAM business stakeholders. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with one of the Top 5 Banks in Canada.

Typical Day in role:

  • Facilitate Requirements Gathering: Lead collaborative sessions with business stakeholders to uncover, document analyze, and review requirements.
  • Data Analysis: Perform detailed data analysis to capture data mapping, develop business logic, identify data gaps and produce the necessary outputs.
  • Solution Design: Collaborate with development, architecture, and business teams to design solutions, document data flows, and create technical specification with are aligned with requirements.
  • Business-As-Usual Support: Conduct analysis, root cause investigation, and solution reviews for complex cases to prevent recurrence.
  • Project Leadership: help drive small projects, identifying risks, assumptions, and constraints, and report progress to the Product Owner.
  • Quality Assurance: Write and execute test cases to validate solutions.

Must-Have Skills:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Data Analyst, preferably in financial services, investment, or asset management.
  • Advanced SQL skills for data analysis, including queries, joins, and data extraction.
  • Strong understanding of investment management concepts (e.g., equities, fixed income, derivatives, mutual funds).
  • Experience working in Agile environments, particularly with Scrum methodology, and leading projects.
  • Proven ability to identify, analyze, and document key business processes and requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to build relationships and foster teamwork.
  • Strategic problem-solving and critical thinking capabilities, with a history of balancing competing priorities effectively.
  • Highly organized self-starter who can manage multiple projects and deadlines independently.
  • A continuous learner with the ability to adapt to new ideas and provide innovative solutions     

Nice-To-Have Skills:

  • Experience with Eagle Investment System or other Data Management systems, Charles River, Bloomberg, FactSet, or Tableau
  • Familiarity with business intelligence tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
