MS Azure Engineer – Java

JOB DESCRIPTION

Location: Hybrid | Downtown, Toronto

Duration: ASAP to 06/22/2026

Our client a leading financial institution in Downtown Toronto, is looking for an MS Azure Engineer – Java to improve operational efficiency by enabling increased automation and external connections for Cloud databases. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with one of the Top 5 Banks in Canada.

Typical Day in role:

  • Working with Microsoft Azure technologies, including virtual machines, databases, networks etc.
  • Improve operational efficiency by enabling increased automation and external connections for Cloud databases
  • Facilitate/Support projects connecting in from external environments
  • Improved user feedback for those capabilities.
  • Maintain best of class user experience for our platform.
  • Maintain a clean support board meeting SLA ensuring users are fully supported for their needs with using our platforms.
  • Potential work to migrate from Jenkins pipelines to Terraform
  • Tech stack: Microsoft Azure, Java, SQL – mostly back-end role and towards infrastructure side
  • Mostly working with provisioning and troubleshooting databases and working with DBAs

Must-Have Skills:

  • 8+ years of relevant experience as a developer/engineer
  • 3+ years’ Microsoft Azure infrastructure experience
  • 3+ years’ experience working with databases (e.g. SQL) at an advanced level (can code and troubleshoot in back end)
  • 2+ years’ experience programming in Java

Nice-To-Have Skills:

  • Experience with GCP
  • Experience with Terraform
  • Experience with Docker
  • Experience with CI/CD

Soft Skills Required:

  • Good communication skills
  • Team collaboration skills

Education:

  • Bachelor’s in technical field (i.e. computer science, engineering)
  • Microsoft certified is an asset
