Data/ Business Analyst – Power BI

JOB DESCRIPTION

Location: Hybrid | Downtown, Toronto

Duration: Until 10/31/2025

Our client a leading financial institution in Downtown Toronto is looking for a Data/ Business Analyst – Power BI to work with stakeholders to provide insightful visualizations. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with one of the Top 5 Banks in Canada.

Typical Day in role:

  • Champions a data-driven & customer culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge
  • Responsible for completing stakeholder engagement reporting within Jira and Power BI, with the intent to develop executive engagement dashboards
  • Provides consultative support to business lines and project teams on the execution of data management policy, standards, processes, etc., as appropriate
  • Establishes and maintains stakeholder and executive management relationships to effectively influence data strategic priorities
  • Work with teams and scrum master to develop risk-mitigated strategies to ensure successful implementation and maintenance of re-useable datasets. Escalates blockers and issues to Data Office leadership for resolution
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring all activities conducted comply with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures and within the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture

Must-Have Skills:

  • 10 years of experience working with Power BI
  • Proven delivery experience and understanding of Enterprise Delivery Framework, Agile experience.
  • Experience with data quality dimensions
  • Experience with JIRA

Nice-To-Have Skills:

  • Experience with Collibra, Confluence, CA-PPM, MS Projects
  • Knowledge of bank’s operations to understand and lead the implementation of strategic initiatives across several disciplines is preferred
  • Spanish is an asset

  • Proven ability to learn business processes quickly and to work well with business partners at different levels within the organization
  • Well-developed communication skills including precise articulation of ideas and opinions to prepare detailed business cases and proposals
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible/ adaptable in exercising judgment in a changing environment and to manage competing priorities
  • Exceptional leadership skills to review processes and procedures to create efficiencies, eliminate duplication, and provide organization support to achieve business objectives
  • Strong relationship management with an ability to establish productive relationships between various leaders, departments, and partners across the organization
  • Ability to manage significant transformation change initiatives while maintaining a high level of employee engagement and focus
  • Solutions-oriented and able to develop and create innovative solutions to critical business or organizational data issues

Education:

  • Post-secondary degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering, or a related IT field required
