: AML Financial Crime Specialist- Advanced

JOB DESCRIPTION

Location: Hybrid | Jersey City, US

Duration: 6 Months

Our client, a leading financial institution in Jersey City, US, is looking for an  AML Financial Crime Specialist to review and recommend for approval the resolution of escalations related to the Standby Letter of Credit. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with one of the Top 5 Banks in Canada.

Typical Day in role:

Conduct investigations:  

  • Assist with the distribution, tracking, and reporting related to information sharing requests pursuant to Section 314(a) and 314(b) of the USA PATRIOT Act and maintain supporting documentation
  • Assist with the development and facilitation of training to Bank employees designed to provide an understanding of the regulatory requirements/expectations, provide updates on changes to internal policies, and emerging risks and trends
  • Manage the AML Training Program
  • Collaborate with US AML team members and related teams to gather information and statistics used for ongoing reporting to Senior Management and Regulatory Agencies;
  • Maintain knowledge of BSA and USA PATRIOT Act regulations and remain current with applicable AML Economic Sanctions and ABAC laws, rules, regulations, and guidance;
  • Assist in the development and enhancement of internal AML controls, which includes, but is not limited to, performing gap analysis between internal controls and regulatory requirements, policies/procedures and operational AML functions, as well as Enterprise and Local AML requirement.
  • Collaborate with global AML teams to assess risk, when applicable;
  • Review and adjudicate negative news escalations and alerts, which will include performing assessments to determine the relationship status, conducting due diligence on the news to determine materiality, reviewing prior assessments to determine if the news was previously assessed, and once a decision is made on the materiality of the news, liaise with various teams to advise on the next steps.
  • Develop a tracking system in SharePoint to capture tasks within the AML Program.
  • Create targeted reporting and a dashboard to include weekly reporting within the Director’s mandate.
  • Assist with the data gathering and completion of the Enterprise Risk Assessment.
  • Assist with the timely resolution of AML audit or regulatory issues raised.
  • Provide advice, guidance, and, within policy, direction to internal clients and other team members on ML and related issues, seeking guidance when required from supervisors and other colleagues;
  • Promote, support, and adhere to the bank’s policies and guidelines on Code of Conduct, Personal and Professional Development, Equal Opportunities, Health & Safety, Data Protection and Information Security, by published Policy / Guidance documents and protocols.
  • Effectively ensure synergies across borders, areas of expertise, businesses, and functions; and Responsible and accountable for self-development and maintaining up-to-date knowledge, best practices, and skill sets for relevant Capital Markets ML, Terrorist Financing (TF), sanctions, and other regulatory matters to support banks’ US AML Program.

Must-Have Skills:

  •     5-9 years related experience
  • Extensive knowledge of risk management and anti-money laundering related requirements, including BSA, USA PATRIOT Act, OFAC, FCPA and other applicable U.S. regulations.

  • Intermediate knowledge of Reporting design and development (Business Intelligence)

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Operations, Engineering, Information Systems or equivalent education and/or relevant industry experience.
