JOB DESCRIPTION
Location: Hybrid (Downtown, Toronto)
Duration: 10 months
Our client, a leading financial institution in Downtown Toronto, is looking for a Business Analyst – Banking to elicit and document requirements: Gather, analyse, and clearly define business and system requirements (functional, non-functional, operational, and transitional) for new solutions and enhancements. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with one of the Top 5 Banks in Canada.
Typical Day in role:
- Perform gap analysis: Identify gaps between current capabilities and future state requirements, recommending viable solutions.
- Analyse processes and data: Conduct detailed business process modelling (AS-IS and TO-BE), data analysis, and logical data modelling to support solution design.
- Collaborate with stakeholders: Work closely with business units, technology teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure alignment and clarity of requirements.
- Support solution design and development: Translate business needs into functional specifications and assist in evaluating options and alternatives for system capabilities.
- Manage testing activities: Coordinate and execute Integration System Testing (IST) and Quality Assurance (QA) testing, ensuring defects are tracked and resolved.
- Facilitate User Acceptance Testing (UAT): Develop test cases, support end-user testing, and validate that solutions meet documented requirements.
- Project management and planning: Assist in creating project plans, tracking milestones, managing risks/issues, and supporting governance activities.
- Ensure compliance and quality standards: Adhere to organisational policies, regulatory requirements, and best practices throughout the project lifecycle.
- Facilitate change management: Support training, documentation (SLAs, support model, etc), and transition activities to ensure smooth adoption of new systems or processes.
Must-Have Skills:
- 5-7 years of experience as a Business Analyst
- Gather and analyse requirements / user stories
- Create process maps, workflows, and functional specifications
- Manage stakeholders and ensure alignment between business and technical teams
- Communicate complex ideas clearly and produce concise documentation
- Work in Agile environments and understand SDLC phases
Nice-To-Have Skills:
- Working experience in the banking/financial services industry would be an asset
- Knowledge of Credit and Risk applications preferred
- Experience working in Agile environment

Education:
- Post-secondary education in Computer Science, or a related field.
